Breaking ground on a 7,000 sf wedding venue wasn’t what Justin, Jennifer & Eric Stephens thought they would be doing – and certainly not during a pandemic. But it’s exactly what the husband, wife and brother trio did, and in April 2020 construction started.
20 weeks later, The Barn at Bull Meadow, a rustic wedding and event center on 34-acres of beautiful land located at 63 Bog Road in Concord, NH was completed. The new construction post and beam barn-style reception area was the inspiration from Justin and Jennifer’s own wedding planning in 2017 when they couldn’t find what they wanted for their own venue.
“We knew what we wanted but we couldn’t find a barn-style wedding venue that had all the amenities and one we could afford,” said Justin Stephens, co-owner, The Barn at Bull Meadow. “Old, New Hampshire barns were commonly built near roads, we wanted privacy, but we also wanted a modern barn that had bridal suites and air conditioning and heating too. We knew we could create a venue with all the amenities a bride and groom would want while making it affordable.”
Only 10 minutes from Interstate 93, upon arriving to The Barn at Bull Meadow, the serenity of the beautiful meadow and pond captures the essence of the property which was named after the previous owner who farmed the land and often had a lone bull wandering the fields causing mischief with his neighbors. Today, the meadow and pond are used as the backdrop for their outdoor nuptials with the barn steps away featuring seating for 180 guests, full-service bar and prep kitchen designed with caterers’ needs in mind. Twin balcony overlooks the grand hall which also includes an outdoor covered patio with firepits and additional seating.
“We connected with CRDC through their SBA 504 loan program, we also needed assistance with a direct loan,” said Justin. “Both CRDC and our bank, Primary Bank connected, and you could tell they had a nice working relationship together. Jennifer really guided us through the entire process which allowed us to concentrate on everything else we needed to do to get this project from concept to reality.”
“Our direct loan program is designed exactly to help business owners like the Stephens with additional capital to fund projects like this,” said Jennifer Boulanger, CRDC Loan Officer. “Despite building during the height of a pandemic, it was almost the perfect time since so many weddings were put on hold, it allowed the Barn at Bull Meadow to position itself to be ready for the 2021 wedding season.”
The Barn at Bull Meadow also hosts corporate events, Proms and family gatherings. For more information visit: https://barnatbullmeadow.com.
